چکیده

This research is aimed at the assessing impact of ultraviolet radiation in A, B, and C ranges (as additives to main light) on general plan condition, stress experienced by them, pigment concentration leaves leaf reflective characteristics. Under studying, there were photo-protective reactions purple variety basil plants. The plants grown plastic pots a phyto-chamber equipped with an automatic microclimate system. was divided into four compartments where, addition lighting, installed additional LEDs emitting their UV-A, UV-B, UV-C. Plant evaluated contents pigments as detected spectrometric method. Then correlations revealed between those values vegetative indices obtained based hyperspectral images. A strong correlation (R2 ? 0.83) observed ARI mARI anthocyanins leaves. weak = 0.0479) found carotenoids index CRI700, which attributed shielding effect anthocyanins. Deviations results are influenced surface unevenness, its thickness density. Additional needed including developing reflection taking account pigments.

Chicoric acid found in basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) leaves

This is the first report to identify the presence of chicoric acid (cichoric acid; also known as dicaffeoyltartaric acid, which is a caffeic acid derivatizedwith tartaric acid) in basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid, chicoric acid and caftaric acid (in the order of most abundant to least; all derivatives of caffeic acid) were identified in fresh basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid was themain phenolic comp...

Improvement in Flavonoids and Phenolic Acids Production and Pharmaceutical Quality of Sweet Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) by Ultraviolet-B Irradiation.

Sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum Linnaeus) is aromatic herb that has been utilized in traditional medicine. To improve the phytochemical constituents and pharmaceutical quality of sweet basil leaves, ultraviolet (UV)-B irradiation at different intensities (2.30, 3.60, and 4.80 W/m²) and durations (4, 6, 8, and 10-h) was applied at the post-harvest stage. Total flavonoid content (TFC) and total phe...

Effects of nitrogen fertilization on the phenolic composition and antioxidant properties of basil (Ocimum basilicum L.).

Many herbs and spices have been shown to contain high levels of polyphenolic compounds with potent antioxidant properties. In the present study, we explore how nutrient availability, specifically nitrogen fertilization, affects the production of polyphenolic compounds in three cultivars (Dark Opal, Genovese, and Sweet Thai) of the culinary herb, basil ( Ocimum basilicum L.). Nitrogen fertilizat...

Effect of Silicon on Some Characteristics of Purple Basil (Ocimum basilicum) Under Drought Stress

The purpose of this research was to determine the effects of different silicon concentrations on the physiological and morphological characteristics of purple basil under drought stress conditions. For this purpose, a factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design with three replications was done. The studied factors were four levels of drought stress (25, 50, 75, and 100% full ir...
